Peanuts, crackerjacks, and pipeline wins
When I was 19, my dad gave me this advice: "Dress for the job you want, not the job you have."
And yet, somehow, consistently showing up to the office dressed as the starting shortstop for the Philadelphia Phillies has yielded NO noticeable results. Some advice, dad.
But save your sympathy, dear reader - because in May the Fastriver team WAS able to get to the ballpark and still call it "work"!
Fastriver's Team Appreciation Day brought us together at Citizens Bank Park to see the Fightins' defeat St. Louis 2-1 on the back of 7 strong innings by Jesus Luzardo and a game-winning single by Bryce Harper.
At Fastriver, we’re fortunate to have a world-class go-to-market team that never stops grinding for our clients.
What does your Go-to-Market team have in common with world-class baseball?
0.1 Even the greats strike out
Hitting is widely considered "the hardest thing to do in sports." The median batting average in the Hall of Fame is .303—meaning even the greatest hitters failed to get on base nearly 7 out of 10 times.
The best BD pros know the feeling. Unanswered emails, flat-out no’s, and ghosted demos are part of the game. But with sound mechanics, daily consistency, and a sharp eye for the right pitch, the top performers know staying focused on solid “at-bats” leads to making contact when it counts—and build winning pipelines over time.
Did-You-Know: Hall-of-Famer Reggie Jackson struck out more times than any other player in MLB History. He’s also “Mr. October,” famous for his unparalleled clutch hitting and post-season success, with 563 career home runs and 5 World Series Wins.
0.2 One Hero Won’t Get You to October
The Bryce Harpers of the world can’t carry a season on their own. Even the greatest hitters need a rotation of solid arms, a reliable bullpen, and teammates who turn double plays.
Sales is no different. A true go-to-market strategy pulls together content, outbound, customer insight, and partnerships. Fastriver works the whole diamond—because when every function moves in sync, the team wins more often.
0.3 Read the signals
Signs matter. Baseball is full of subtle signals—catchers flashing fingers, third-base coaches waving runners home, and pitchers accidentally tipping their pitches…
The best players stay alert, read the situation, and make moves with intent. Same with go-to-market teams. From LinkedIn engagement to website traffic to buyer behavior, the signals are there. Fastriver’s job is to help clients read them, trust them, and act decisively before the opportunity passes.
Put me in, Coach!
Whether we're helping clients hone their swing or rallying the team for a 7th-inning stretch, we know great work starts with great people.
Huge thanks to the Fastriver crew for bringing their A-game every day—and for letting me wear cleats to work without too many questions.
See you at the ball park.
